Australian Chamber Orchestra

The Australian Chamber Orchestra is renowned for its inspired programming and unrivaled virtuosity, energy and individuality.

As Australia’s only national orchestra, the Australian Chamber Orchestra presents outstanding performances to over 9,000 subscribers across Australia and reaches regional audiences in every state and territory. Internationally, the ACO's regular tours to Asia, Europe and the United States consistently receive rave reviews and return invitations to perform

on the great music stages of the world including Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw, London’s Wigmore Hall and Southbank Centre and New York’s Carnegie Hall, Birmingham's Symphony Hall and Washington D.C.'s Kennedy Center. The ACO has visited over 250 cities during the course of 50 international tours.

Foundation+World-class features are the building blocks

tessitura foundation

Any coach will tell you that a team can't win without consistent and reliable execution of a game's fundamentals. That's why we provide the Foundation: a set of hardened, well executed features that every organization needs on their site such as single ticket purchase, package sales, promo code and gift certificate redemption, and more. Knowing that we had the fundamentals well in hand allowed us to spend our time on the project with ACO focusing on more advanced and creative features, such as their online exchange platform, educational event registration workflow, and Facebook driven photo albums. The Foundation provides the features you need so that we can work on the features you want.

Responsive Design Meeting on-the-go tourists where they are

opera australia responsive design

Because many of the visitors to the Opera Australia site are tourists on the go, it was critical that users be provided with a premium mobile expience. The same rich and compelling imagery that was available to desktop users needed to be available to mobile patrons, while allowing them to still have a simple and straight forward purchase experience. We're pleased to say that the proof is in the numbers. Mobile revenue rose from 5.5% of their overall site sales to over 11% in just a matter of months. We look forward to seeing how responsive design continues to impact Opera Australia's mobile patrons.

ACO decided to do a complete website redesign on an impossible schedule. We passed the chalice to L2 Interactive. I think it's the only web development project I know of that finished on budget, on time, delivering what was asked for, and with no tears before bedtime.

Event Registration Automation of a labor intensive process

event registration

Keeping track of RSVP's to special events and activities can take a lot of time and effort if its handled manually by team members. Additionally, patrons expect the ability to quickly convey whether or not they will be attending events, often doing so online. We developed a fast and convenient way to invite patrons to special events via email and catch their responses in native Tessitura Special Activities with only a couple of clicks from an email. This saves their staff time that can then be spent putting together a fundraising night to remember, instead of days of data processing they'd much rather forget!

Find Tickets The fastest way to sell a seat

find tickets

During our strategy meetings for the design and user interface experience, ACO emphasized that they wanted tickets to be sold fast. The idea was simple: limit the clicks to purchase. Through our discovery and design process, this was refined to the "Find Tickets" feature. For the ACO, this started out listing the cities where they performed, as they tour through 10+ markets during their season. Via user testing, we found patrons preferred to search by the performance name rather than the city or venue. The results of the Find Tickets feature are a clear winner.

Integrated Media Galleries Re-purpose your efforts to save time and money

integrated media

During our requirements documentation process, we defined a goal to simplify ACO's management of media assets. They were already managing the assets on their YouTube channel, Sound Cloud account and Facebook. Using the API's available, we created an integration with our erube2 content management system. The production detail pages along with the Watch & Listen section of the website became up to date and more engaging with very little effort by the ACO, saving time and money for the long term.

Facebook CommentsSway purchase decisions with friends & family

facebook comments

Outside their standard traditional or digital advertising, the ACO wanted to better leverage social media as a means to spread the word. When it comes to swaying patrons, nothing beats word of mouth. People trust recommendations from friends and family above all other forms of advertising when making a purchase decision. As a result, we planned, documented, designed and implemented Facebook comments for any page of the site where the ACO decides it wants Facebook commenting.

Ticket Exchange Self service that makes money

ticket exchange

Ticket exchanges are one of the most complex and sophisticated features that can be implemented on a site. In an environment where patrons increasingly want to service their own needs in simple and efficient ways, we were challenged with devising an interface that allowed patrons to exchange their tickets hassle free. This was accomplished even in light of complex rules such as limiting exchange quantities, performances, and seasons; price-type switching; dynamic fee structures; and more.
